Are You Behind on Payments or Overdrawn?

Saturday March 8, 2008

Sometimes things happen and you get behind on your payments. This can be devastating. It starts a vicious cycle of late fees and spending money before you make it. Most people get behind as a result of an emergency. If you are behind on your bills, you can turn the situation around with a concentrated effort. It does take planning, learn what you need to do to change the situation.

If you are tempted to go to a cash advance or payday lender to solve the problem--don't. This will only add to the negative cycle. Once again you are spending money before you make it and you can't seem to break the cycle. You may find that you are in a similar cycle when you overdraw at the bank. The best way to avoid these problems is to have a written budget that you follow and to set up an emergency fund to cover unexpected costs.
