Recently I caught a friend listening to the Dave Ramsey show. I listen to the show whenever I'm out and about. It is funny, because we both talked about how we assumed no one else listened to it. We didn't talk details about our financial situations, but it was nice to know that there is someone else who feels the same way I do about debt.

Often debt sneaks up on people, just like pounds do and it seems like you suddenly wake up one day deeply in debt (or fat depending on the situation). Getting rid of that debt is not an easy process. You have to change your habits and start paying attention to what you are doing. Usually debt or weight gain come from not paying attention to your lifestyle choices, and the effects that they are having on you.

A debt diet shouldn't be a temporary thing. Once you are debt free you should still pay attention to how you spend and save your money. You will have more to spend, and you can enjoy life more, but you still need to pay attention or else you will end up in debt again.

So how is your debt diet going this year? Are you still on track or do you need a little outside motivation to get going?
