When I graduated from college, I moved to an area I had never lived before. I did not have any real contacts to help me when I was looking for a job, and my college did not have any contacts in the are in the field where I was looking. My days consisted of sifting through the job postings each day. I applied to jobs I was over qualified for and under qualified for. In the meantime, my husband had contacts already in place. He managed to get an interview and land a job in the first week we were there.
Finding a job is a little bit of luck, a little bit of mining your connections, and a lot of hard work. If you are having a hard time finding a job, then you need to widen your pool of resources. Your community may offer job fairs, you can contact employment agencies and take on temporary work, while you continue to look. The key is to keep looking.
