4. Cautions and Other Considerations
In addition to the down payment, you will need to have money set aside for the closing costs. Your realtor should be able to tell you the estimated amount for the closing costs, but it is at least $5,000. Additionally you should be careful when checking on the type of mortgage you choose. You should choose a fixed rate mortgage, and not an adjustable rate mortgage. You can get preapproved for a mortgage before you begin shopping for a home. If you are still reactant, you can always evaluate whether you want to rent or buy in another year. This can give additional time to save up for your home. You should also plan for some of these unexpected moving costs.
