Health Insurance Deductible

Definition: Your deductible is the amount that you must pay before health insurance coverage kicks in. Generally this is an annual deductible meaning you must meet it only once. If you have more than one person on the policy then each individual will need to meet the annual deductible. Some insurance plans will not cover doctor’s visits or any other procedures until the deductible is met. Others will cover doctor’s visits with your co-pay, but tests, lab work, and other procedures will not be covered until the deductible is met.
