Carbon Monoxide "stinks"
- I was not the owner of this apartment, it was actually rented by my mom. It was cheap, but a wreck. The floors sank in in places and our neighbors had a loud grunge band thea practiced every night. That, and it was just across the street from a railroad track. Those weren't the only issues, however. Come to find out, there was a carbon monoxide leak that made all of us sick. Make sure your landlord checks regularly for gas leaks. Also, watch out for environmental hazards as well as loud, annoying environments.

Stiffed on my deposit
- When I moved out of my first apartment, my roommate and I divided up what rooms we were going to clean. Only she didn't clean half of the stuff she was supposed to. The lease was in my name, and they kept the security deposit.

Cheap and Gross
- For my first apartment out of college I wanted to live somewhere on my own. I was new to the area, and the places I could afford were run down and scar. The scary sounds at night, and the run down building weren't pleasant, but I couldn't handle the bugs. I moved as soon as I could and got all new furniture. Make the sure the apartment complex sprays on a regular basis.
